The Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg will present the exhibition On Nervous Grounds. Between Delusion and Reality starting May 9, 2026. In a world at a tipping point, where the desire for the destructive and the ruinous is once again being openly celebrated, reality increasingly seems to be perceived through the filter of one’s own emotions. Political and social tensions place people in a collectively nervous and vulnerable state of mind.

At the threshold between delusion and reality, between the self and the external world, the exhibition explores the moment in which these contradictory emotional experiences arise. On Nervous Grounds shows, through selected works from the collection of the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, how art from the 1970s to the present creates compelling spaces of resonance.
Without attempting to interpret reality, the exhibition approaches the experience of our highly sensitized present as well as the place where emotions arise.
