The double LP Radio Play (FMP 1290|1300) contains Christopher Williams’ adaptations of the play “Inklusive” by the Bavarian playwright Franz Xavier Kroetz. “Inklusive” is part of a radio play trilogy from 1971 entitled “Trilogie Münchener Lebens” (Trilogy of Munich Life). The play was first broadcast in 1972 in the former West Germany by Südwestfunk (Southwest German Radio). A second version was broadcast in 1974 in the former East Germany by Rundfunk der DDR (East German Radio). The West and East German broadcasts form the basis for these two radio play adaptations by Williams. Both adaptations were recorded in German using the same recording technique employed in the original broadcasts of 1972 and 1974.
The recently remastered double-sided LP Radio Play contains both the West German and East German adaptations of the play. The 12-inch single The Pedagogical Prop contains excerpts from both adaptations. Both records are available through FMP Publishing. Tom McDonough’s review of our listening session in Texte zur Kunst is a wonderful introduction to the project.
