The 4th Berlin Autumn Salon De-heimatize it! opened with a political intervention on Saturday, 26 October. More than 3,000 visitors attended the Berlin premiere of Jedem das Seine (Regie: Marta Górnicka), visited the exhibition of around 40 artists or listened to the lectures of the Young Curators Academy. Until midnight there were numerous visitors* to the exhibition.

In her intervention, which took place instead of an opening speech on the Gorki stage, Hito Steyerl, a renowned artist (including documenta 12), demanded, among other things, a halt to the supply of weapons to Turkey and an end to the refugee agreement, which was at the expense of the people of Northern Syria. “I demand: The federal institutions should no longer show my works in their collections until the German state changes its position I am demanding that Federal German institutions stop showing my work held in their collections as part of its external cultural diplomacy. I am sick of my work being deployed to detract the German states tacit agreement with displacement, ethnic cleansing and warfare and to lend it an aura of tolerance and inclusivity.”) Together with theatre maker Anina Jendreyko, Kurdish filmmaker and musician Heja Netirk and political scientist Bilgin Ayata, Steyerl presented lyrical and political dialogues in German, English and Kurdish. Among other things, the artists quoted a statement by “Women Defend Rojava” and demanded the immediate withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syria.
