The German Historical Museum (Deutsches Historisches Museum) invites you to Berlin Museum Sunday on 2 October 2022. With free admission, visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition “Citizenships. France, Poland, Germany since 1789” (1 July 2022 – 15 January 2023), visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to reflect on the inclusive and at the same time exclusive characteristics of citizenship from the 19th century to the present.

As part of this inclusive and barrier-free exhibition, an open art action with the artist Caspar Pauli will take place in the foyer of the Pei Building on 2 and 3 October 2022 under the title “Pass partout (nicht)”. There, thoughts and impressions of the exhibition visit can be put down on paper in the form of comments and sketches. Afterwards, the sketches can be taken home or attached to the glass balustrade in the Pei Building. Over the course of the two days, a growing collage of images will be created that will mark the DHM as a social place to stay and encourage those present to linger, participate and discuss.
On these two days, the exhibition content can also be explored with a varied guided tour and educational programme, which is offered free of charge. The public guided tour “AusGrenzen? Migration and Citizenship” debates the reasons for and consequences of state border crossings with the help of selected objects. The interconnections of emigration, exclusion, statelessness and the possibilities of political participation are discussed.
In the children’s tour “Where DO I PASS?”, young visitors aged 8 to 12 can take part in a dialogue-based tour. Using certificates, posters, letters and everyday objects, a playful exchange about the role and meaning of citizenship is encouraged. A guided tour of the cooperation project “Multaka: Meeting Point Museum” will also be offered in Arabic and Persian, which deals with the sense of belonging and identity in state contexts.
