From Thursday 9 May to Sunday 12 May 2024, the 4th edition of the art fair Art on Paper Amsterdam will take place at Westergas. In the Gashouder, both young and established galleries will exhibit contemporary works of exceptional talent on, by or with paper. In the Transformatorhuis, renowned art dealers will present art on paper from masters to twentieth-century artists for the first time this year.

Thirteen galleries will host a special “Cutting-Edge” solo presentation of one of their artists at Gashouder.
Whether in charcoal, pen and ink, watercolour, gouache or collage, works on paper often show the artist at their most spontaneous and artistically free moment. In addition to the special nature of the medium, art on paper is often affordable in terms of format and price. Novice art lovers can make one of their first art purchases during their visit to Art on Paper Amsterdam.
Art on Paper Amsterdam traditionally invites private and corporate collections to present their works on paper in the fair’s central exhibition. This year, the Association of Corporate Collections Netherlands (VBCN) will exhibit works on paper from the collections of its members, many of which have been acquired by the participating galleries. VBCN is a non-profit network for Dutch companies and (semi-)public institutions with an art collection policy.
In the Green Paper exhibition, the members of the Association of Corporate Collections Netherlands are showing artworks by artists who deal with the theme of sustainability. Artists often anticipate movements that manifest themselves as phenomena in society, and their artworks thus form a green book avant la lettre. Some focus on the material cycle, incorporating everyday objects and packaging into their artistic practice. Others focus on cultural diversity and inclusion and explore how power dynamics between humans, nature and systems can be balanced.
The participating members of the VBCN at the exhibition are: AkzoNobel, Amsterdam UMC, a.s.r., ING, Isala, KPMG, Lakeside Capital Partners, LUMC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NN Group, Province of Gelderland Gelderland, Rabobank, Sanquin, Triodos and TwynstraGudde. A total of around 70 works on paper were collected for the Green Paper exhibition.
