Stefan Sagmeister & 40 other international creatives: Forward Festival – HKW Berlin | 29.08.-30.08.2024

Editors’ Choice

On August 29 and 30, 2024, the Forward Festival will once again bring together the international creative scene in Berlin for the first time in a summer edition. The established annual meeting place for all disciplines of the creative industry is celebrating its fourth year in Berlin and will inspire the audience with 40+ speakers from fields such as AI, digital art, graphic design, typography, photography and much more. Among the speakers is Austrian graphic design icon Stefan Sagmeister with his lecture “Now is Better”. On three stages, the speakers will offer multidisciplinary inspiration and insights into their creative process while talking about the hottest topics in the industry such as artificial intelligence in creation, but also the importance of a practical approach.

Joining the Forward Festival is industry giant Stefan Sagmeister, known for his groundbreaking work with the Rolling Stones, the Guggenheim Museum and projects such as “Happy” and “Beauty.” At Forward Festival Berlin, Sagmeister will share insights from his latest book “Now Is Better” and show how he believes the world is improving. He will refute the notion that the world is in decline and use historical art and data visualizations to demonstrate how life has improved significantly for most people.

Once again, the Forward Festival fills the halls of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt with creative content on three stages and many side events, both indoors and outdoors. Lots of inspiration, creative encounters, business talk, as well as drinks and music right by the Spree. The Forward Festival brings together creative minds from all over the world and offers unique insights and a special atmosphere. An extensive supporting program with art performances, expo areas, side events and after-parties complement the inspiring lectures. The focus is on creative work and collaboration, as well as new common impulses for the creative industry.

About Forward Festival
The Forward Festival for Creativity, Design and Communication is a renowned conference for the local and international creative industry, founded in 2015. The self-proclaimed mission of the festival is to serve as a platform for creative people and to promote inspiration and exchange. The topics range from (graphic) design, typography, marketing and branding to VR/AR, artificial intelligence, architecture, photography, film and TV.

Forward has established itself internationally as an important platform for the industry at locations in the DACH region (Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Zurich, Hamburg). Forward’s formula for success is that it comes from the industry and is authentic in its approach and content. The conference strikes the right note and sets important accents, because its initiators, such as Forward founder and curator Othmar Handl, come from the creative industry themselves. The speakers follow this spirit and therefore contribute with personal stories about success and failure in the creative process, collaboration between disciplines and their view of the creative industries. These ingredients create a wonderful, special atmosphere that cannot be experienced at any other creative festival. Previous speakers at the festival include Yuko Shimizu, Malika Favre, Stefan Sagmeister, Jim Stoten, Eike König, Snask, Anna Ginsburg, Studio Dumbar/Dept-c-, Studio Feixen, Esra Gülmen, Simone Cihlar, Erik Kessels and many more.
