The 16th Triennial Small Sculpture Fellbach is dedicated to the question of Habitate. Über_Lebensräume is dedicated to the question of how we can live together in the face of global challenges in the future. At the centre of the exhibition is the fragile relationship between humans and nature, which the artists approach from very different perspectives.

The range of habitats covered extends from the peaks of the highest mountains to the depths of the oceans. The works show how the habitats of humans, animals and plants are changing radically and will continue to do so in the future. The sculptures, objects and installations provide insights into cultivated, lost, toxic, post-colonial and future habitats, which the artists approach in an analytical, political-activist and/or humorous-ironic way. In this triennial, the Über_Lebensraum of the Alte Kelter is enlivened by real, hybrid and fictional beings and takes a speculative look at possible future scenarios. In the spirit of the philosopher Roberto Mangabeira Unger, it becomes clear that the world does not have an unchanging structure and that we must therefore be open to a ‘future without end’.

AN ARTISTIC HABITAT
The Alte Kelter, with an exhibition space of around 3,000 square metres, will itself become a ‘habitat’ during the Triennale. The exhibition presents the sculptures in a sensory exhibition landscape designed by raumlaborberlin and at the same time opens up spaces for lingering and dialogue. Visitors are invited to continue the dialogue and reflect on the status quo and the future of our living spaces as well as respectful coexistence. Numerous new works will be created for the Triennial.
