Silent green presents from 10. January 2025 (Vernissage 09.01.) the exhibition UnNatural Encounters in cooperation with the European Media Art Platform (EMAP) and transmediale. What can artistic perspectives reveal that data and facts cannot? How does art succeed in making this tangible? Can art and technology work together for the development of new forms of communication, empathy, solidarity, and responsibility for our environment?

These questions will be the focus of the major group exhibition UnNatural Encounters. Ten specially selected works, created between 2022 and 2024 within the scope of the European Media Art Platform‘s (EMAP) Europe-wide residency programme, will be presented in the Betonhalle. As part of the exhibition, transmediale will present an eleventh work in the adjacent transmediale studio.
With works by Tatsuru Arai & Boris Vaitovič, Carl Emil Carlsen, Bethan Hughes, Juliane Jaschnow & Stefanie Schroeder, masharu, Ali Akbar Mehta, Davor Sanvincenti, Studio Above&Below, Transformative Narratives, Endi Tupja & Klodiana Millona and Marc Vilanova. The works exhibited are an exploration of the fundamental issues of our time: environmental sustainability, socio-ecological justice and technological change
The artists work on a transdisciplinary and collaborative basis, bringing together art, science and technology in innovative ways. Their acoustic experiments, immersive landscapes and speculative visions of the future examine the complex relationships between people, technology and the environment. Their approaches are diverse, ranging from data visualisation and experimental documentary film to sound sculpture, performance, video and interactive VR installations. Each work opens up new perspectives on the dynamics of our ecosystem and encourages reflection on the far-reaching consequences of human activity on the environment.
