On December 11, 2024, the Museum Barberini in Potsdam will host the symposium “Impressionism in Germany. Max Liebermann and his time” will take place. It serves to prepare for the exhibition of the same name planned for 2026.

From February 28 to June 7, 2026, the Museum Barberini is showing the exhibition Impressionism in Germany. Max Liebermann and His Time, which is dedicated to the diversity of Liebermann’s themes and styles from the 1870s to the first decades of the 20th century. In addition to painters anchored in the canon such as Lovis Corinth, Max Liebermann and Max Slevogt, the show also presents lesser-known artists such as Maria Slavona and Lesser Ury. The large-scale survey exhibition on Impressionism in Germany brings together over 90 paintings, including loans from the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin, the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the Städel Museum, Frankfurt, the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the Tate, London, the Kunsthalle Mannheim and the Musée d’Orsay, Paris. An exhibition of the Museum Barberini in Potsdam and the Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden.
The symposium prepares the exhibition, which will be on display at the Museum Frieder Burda from October 3, 2025 to February 8, 2026 and at the Museum Barberini from February 28 to June 7, 2026.
