Thursday, 11 and Friday, 12 September 2025, Hebbel am Ufer presents the performance METCH by the artist Ivo Dimchev as part of Berlin Art Week 2025. In METCH, Ivo Dimchev fuses music, painting, lyrics, and choreography to create a powerful solo performance. Through his recurring direct exchanges with the audience, he draws viewers into a realm imbued with poetry, sharp wit, and subtle rebellion, all conveyed through his captivating voice and the raw, melancholic lyrics of his songs.

For many years, Dimchev has mesmerized audiences with his uniquely beautiful voice and his evocative, often provocative songwriting. At the same time, he consistently resists offering a passive viewing experience, instead engaging directly with spectators to explore who is seated before him.

This approach continues in his latest work, METCH, an interactive solo piece in which Dimchev interlaces his theatrical texts, songs, and paintings, seeking new intersections between his artistic fascinations.

Even the title reflects this synthesis: METCH stands for Music, Exhibition, Text, and Choreography. The performance maintains his signature balance of anarchy and tenderness, remaining both distinctive and irresistible.

“METCH is a concert exhibition, an auction, an exercise, an excessive production of paintings, an obsessive dialogue with the audience, and, of course, the songs… I know many people come to my shows because they enjoy my music. For better or worse, those people will also have to encounter my complex and unpredictable relationship with theatre, dance, politics, and contemporary art.” — Ivo Dimchev
