Editors’ Choice

On the evening of 20 July 2023, the graduation exhibition of the weissensee kunsthochschule will open at the Alte Münze in Berlin. Under the title “TUMULT”, 46 aspiring graduates will present their final projects to the public. The opening starts at 6 pm. The exhibition can be visited until Sunday with free admission.

Studying the liberal arts can sometimes be chaotic and confusing, but it also offers moments of relaxation and calm before the real “storm”. The exhibition “TUMULT” celebrates precisely this interplay of chaos and clarity that is necessary to find one’s own artistic path. Samuel Beckett once said: “But beyond this tumult there is a great calm” – a statement that captures the essence of this exhibition.

The exhibition presents a wide range of artistic approaches and media, including painting, drawing, photography, video, performance, sculpture, textile and multimedia installations.

The works on show are by graduates Dean Annunziata, Mathilda Augart, Müge Bakr, Vasil Berela, Benjamin Berkow, Magdalena Bichler, Paula Breuer, Luna Carlos Armengod, Boris Dewjatkin, Dorna Dibaj, Thesea Efstathopoulos, Phillip Ernst, Ximena Ferrer-Pizarro, Alexandru Ganea, Paul Gehri, Gema Gubianas, Ivanna Heredia Torres, Marthe Howitz, Nuri Kang, Yun Kima, Dana Kirijak, Marcin Laszczewski, Haleen Lee, Jung À Lee, Sunkyu Lee, Tom Meier, Helena Ommert, Frida Ortgies-Tonn, Marlies Pahlenberg, Richard Paul, Clara Pistner, Nina Pláková, Robin Rapp, Katharina Reinsbach, Evelina Reiter, Belen Resnikowski, Lara Rocho, Julian Schock, Jenna Seedorf, Devi Sund Rojo, Anna Swagerman, Leon Titze, Lars Unkenholz, Daniela Villalobos Araújo and Julius Voigt.

Each work tells individually about the current situation of the world, historical narratives, personal confrontations with the environment and intimate feelings such as joy, worry, fear, dreams and wishes.
