The temporary branch of the CAMERA WORK gallery, opened in 2012, has quickly established itself as the leading international exhibition space for contemporary art. With the CWC GALLERY, CAMERA WORK has successfully achieved its goals of presenting young contemporary artists with great potential to a broad audience and introducing them to the art market. A selection of these artists, including Jens Lorenzen and Christian Tagliavini, have since been represented worldwide by CAMERA WORK and will continue to be exhibited at the CAMERA WORK gallery. The expansion of CAMERA WORK’s portfolio to include young contemporary artists as well as classical photo artists has thus been successfully implemented. CAMERA WORK thus lives up to its international position and responsibility of combining both: preserving and continuing the history of photographic art.

Until January 26th, 2019, CWC GALLERY is showing the exhibition “Andy Warhol: Fantastic!”. From March 2nd, 2019, CAMERA WORK Gallery (Kantstraße 149, 10623 Berlin) presents a comprehensive exhibition by Jens Lorenzen, who was first shown by CAMERA WORK at CWC GALLERY in 2015.

The museum THE KENNEDYS goes on world tour

The museum THE KENNEDYS will go on a world tour and therefore close its doors at the Former Jewish Girls School Berlin (Auguststraße 11-13 in Berlin-Mitte) on January 28th, 2019. The museum was opened in 2006 – then on Pariser Platz in Berlin – and is now an integral part of the Berlin museum landscape. All exhibits come from the collection of CAMERA WORK AG, which in its entirety is one of the largest and most comprehensive private collections on the history of the Kennedy family. In addition, parts of the collection have been and are being made available for international exhibitions in museums, galleries and other institutions.

The great reputation of the collection and the museum THE KENNEDYS is reflected in the interest of leading international museums and institutions to also present the entire exhibition. The objective of CAMERA WORK AG to make the exhibition and collection, and thus also the history and significance of the Kennedy family, internationally accessible, has prompted the company to close the museum in Berlin and to have it tour in the long term as a travelling exhibition with original exhibits in various countries of the world.

Aware of John F. Kennedy’s importance for Germany and Berlin, CAMERA WORK AG will continue in future to make it possible for future generations to experience an important part of contemporary history and to represent the museum and the city of Berlin abroad in a worthy manner. In the future you will be informed about the stations of the travelling exhibition.
